In memory of my blacksmith, friend and all around good guy,

Joseph P. Cacciatore

LOCKPORT — Joseph P. "Joe" Cacciatore, 61, of Lockport, NY, passed away at his residence on Saturday May 14, 2011. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Petrina (Bongiovanni) Cacciatore.

Joe was an award winning athlete and graduate of Niagara Falls High School, where he excelled in track, swimming and wrestling. He was a student of martial arts, a member of the National Honor Society and pursued his higher education at Letourneau University, Longview, TX, in the engineering field. Joe's passion in life, however, was horses and trained at Oklahoma State Horse Shoeing College. For more than 35 years, he lived his dream working as a horse shoer, trader and breeder.

Joe continued his love of sport and competition in the game of polo for 15 years. Of all competitive sports, playing polo was his most loved. He also enjoyed trail riding, especially the camaraderie. He was very proud of his family, his grandchildren, his heritage, and always had time to lend an ear to those who had a story to tell.

Joe is survived by his longtime companion, Jill A. Donaldson of Lockport, NY; three children, Jennifer Sieb of Olcott, NY, Joseph "Scott" (Shelley) Cacciatore of Middleport, NY and Steffanie Cacciatore of West Palm Beach, FL; Jill's daughter, Jennifer Donaldson of Seattle, WA; seven grandchildren; one sister, Janet (Dr. Mark) Hatfield of Houston, TX; one brother, David (Renee) Cacciatore of Houston, TX; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
